The AlternativePress.com is expanding its reach into Union County tomorrow with the launch of its latest hyperlocal news website for Westfield.

“We are pleased to announce this latest expansion of TheAlternativePress.com into another important New Jersey community,” said Michael Shapiro, the news site’s founder and CEO.  “Over the last six months, we have proved that New Jersey residents are ready to embrace a user-friendly, hyperlocal news site that provides professionally-reported news, written by paid reporters.”

The AlternativePress launched in October with news sites for Berkeley Heights, New Providence and Summit and has since expanded to Milburn, Livingston and Madison.

Shapiro said advertising revenue for the AlternativePress has more than tripled since January 1.

"We are adding new advertisers each week," Shapiro said. "Ad revenue has already exceeded our projections.”

Andrew Wasserman, an attorney and long-time Westfield resident said who will serve as the Advisory Board Chair for the AlternativePress in Westfield, said the site will be a benefit to residents and businesses in Westfield.

"It is owned and operated in New Jersey by lifelong residents and is quickly becoming the go-to-place for daily news and information for all Garden State residents," Wasserman said. "It has experienced tremendous success in the municipalities where it is has been launched and I expect the same for Westfield.”
