Alternative Press announces advisory boards

New Providence, NJ  New Jersey's first all-online daily local newspaper, TheAlternativePress.com, today announced it has formed a series of local Advisory Boards of philanthropists, executives, and community and political leaders who live in each of the towns served by TheAlternativePress.com.  The site also announced that the chairs of each of the local advisory boards will serve on an overall Advisory Board for the site.

TheAlternativePress.com is locally owned and operated and presently covers Berkeley Heights, Livingston, Millburn/Short Hills, New Providence and Summit.  It has a team of more than 40 paid reporters and more than a dozen columnists, all living in and around the site's coverage area.  The site launched on October 1, 2008, and recently received its 1,000,000th hit. The newly named local Advisory Board members will provide their expertise and advice to help make TheAlternativePress.com the preeminent go-to-place for up-to-the-minute local news and information.  Summit Advisory Board Chairperson Diane Klaif said, "TheAlternativePress.com is a fantastic way for residents to receive continuous local news and information in an efficient, easy-to-read and environmentally-friendly format.  People have a thirst to know what is happening, minute-to-minute."  She continued, "TheAlternativePress.com drills down to a local level that is unprecedented, and its expansion into neighboring communities really helps us keep in touch and informed. I am excited to be chairing the Summit Advisory Board and look forward to taking this community news hot spot to the next level."

Millburn/Short Hills Advisory Board Chairperson, Ellen Steinberg, who recently retired from serving on the Millburn Township Committee, said, "TheAlternativePress.com is a wonderful vehicle for our townships, our local businesses, and our local clubs, organizations and religious institutions to promote themselves and their events in a dynamic, immediate way. The site truly serves our communities by enabling our residents to stay informed and become readily involved in local activities.  By taking advantage of today's technology to cross promote our local businesses and organizations, we strengthen the fabric of our communities."

Owner and Editor of TheAlternativePress.com, New Providence resident Michael Shapiro said, "TheAlternativePress.com is run right here in New Providence, our staff all live in our coverage area, and now we have advisory boards for the site whose members all live locally.  TheAlternativePress.com is truly as local as local news can get."
